General dentists are trained to diagnose and treat periodontal disease in its earliest stages. However, many general dentists in northern Michigan trust Dr. Suzanne Mason and the entire team at Mason Periodontics & Dental Implants for specialized treatments. We treat advanced periodontal disease every day, so we’re experts in restoring health in the least invasive and most cost-effective manner.

You may not be experiencing any obvious symptoms or discomfort. That’s true for some of our patients. Based on his or her exam, your general dentist may have detected an issue in your mouth during a routine visit. We are here to team up with your dentist and assist in bettering your oral and overall health.

Despite the possible lack of symptoms, periodontal problems are serious and you should seek treatment for them as soon as possible. Periodontal disease slowly destroys the gum line and bone support for your teeth. Eventually, periodontitis leads to tooth loss. In addition, several studies connect periodontal disease to cardiac problems, including heart disease and heart attacks. Periodontal infections have also been linked to premature and low birth weight babies. The disease can also adversely affect a diabetic’s ability to control blood sugar levels.

Thank you Dr. Mason and all your staff. My experience with your team during my recent procedures was very re-assuring. The procedures were comfortable and the follow up care was exceptional. I experienced no surprises as you educated me well on what to expect. Also the after hour phone calls I received, as well as the information on how to reach you after hours, was comforting to have on hand if needed. You are all so sweet, comforting, and very very fun while being professional at the same time. Your office is awesome! Thank you!
