Pre-Surgical Instructions (if NOT having IV sedation)

You have been scheduled for periodontal and/or dental implant surgery. Please familiarize yourself with the following instructions before your appointment to make your procedure more comfortable and successful.

  • A light meal 1 hour before your appointment is suggested as long as you will not be having IV sedation. Do not arrive on an empty stomach.
  • Plan on driving yourself to and from your appointment unless an oral sedative has been prescribed or you will be having IV sedation. In these situations, you must have someone drive you to and from your appointment.
  • Plan to take the remainder of the day off work. Most patients are able to return to work the following day.
  • If you have a bite splint, orthodontic retainer, removable partial or flipper please bring it with you to your appointment.
  • A local anesthetic will be used and non-dissolvable sutures will be placed. The sutures will be removed 10-14 days after the surgery.
  • If you take Aspirin, Coumadin or other blood thinner, please inform Dr. Mason prior to the surgery.

Please contact our office if you have any questions, (231) 932-4223.

I have never received better treatment. Staff are very friendly and the least painful procedure I have EVER received.
