Pre-Surgical Instructions (if having IV sedation)

You have been scheduled for periodontal and/or dental implant surgery. Please familiarize yourself with the following instructions before your appointment to make your procedure more comfortable and successful.

  • Having a meal before your appointment is NOT suggested so long as you are having IV sedation.

  • You must have someone drive you to and from your appointment if you are having an oral sedative prescribed or if you are having an IV sedation applied.

  • Plan to take the remainder of the day off work. Most patients can return to work the following day.

  • If you have a bite splint, orthodontic retainer, removable partial or flipper please bring it with you to your appointment.

  • A local anesthetic will be used and non-dissolvable sutures will be placed. The sutures will be removed 10-14 days after the surgery.

  • If you take Aspirin, Coumadin or other blood thinner, please inform Dr. Mason prior to the surgery.

I cannot say enough how great my appointment went here. From the moment I checked in until even after I got home. They knew I had high anxiety and kept me calm the how time.
