The Importance of Tooth Replacement After Extraction
Replacing teeth after tooth extractions is important to your oral health and smile. Prolonged tooth loss leads to bone loss, shifting and tilting of surrounding teeth, changes in bite and other problems. Dental implants are often the ideal option for tooth replacement as they closely mimic tooth, root and crown structures. In certain cases, Dr. Mason performs "immediate implants" where the dental implant is placed after tooth extraction in the same visit.
Extraction Site Preservation for Dental Implants
Preserving extraction sites immediately following tooth extractions may be necessary to prepare for future dental implant placement. With a socket preservation procedure, Dr. Mason adds bone and tissue regenerative factors directly to the tooth sockets (hollow spaces in the bone left by tooth roots). This minimizes the bony arch collapse in these areas, creating a solid foundation and support for your future dental implant.
